Marrero Engineers was founded in March 1968 in Baton Rouge, LA by a young electrical engineer Hugo A. Marrero Sr., P.E.  A year later, electrical engineer John Couvillon, P.E. joined Mr. Marrero and together they formed Marrero, Couvillon & Associates.  The main office has always been in Baton Rouge but MCA has operated satellite offices in Lafayette, Thibodaux, and New Orleans (Metairie).  Currently, the  active MCA offices are Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Mr. Couvillon retired from the firm and from the practice of engineering in 2005.  In late 2017, Mr. Marrero retired and passed ownership of the firm to Carlos Giron, previously the General Manager of the firm.  The current staff at MCA pledges to continue to provide high quality architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design as well as construction management services.  MCA continues this mission by providing top quality services while efficiently utilizing today’s rapidly changing design technologies.

For nearly 50 years, MCA has provided engineering and design services to the Gulf Coast region and as far away as the Central America and the Caribbean.   Early project work centered around the oil and chemical corridor along the Mississippi River at plants such as Exxon, Dow, Dupont and others.  Later work expanded to sugar processing facilities across the South, governmental and commercial facilities.  The recent New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport was a significant project for MCA, having designed the electrical power distribution & lighting systems, plumbing design, and fire protections systems for the facility.

MCA can contract directly with owners, contractors, and governmental agencies or work with other design firms to execute projects. Our work covers a diverse range of government, commercial and industrial projects; large and small. MCA’s certification as a DBE can add value to many publicly funded projects.
